“My paintings explore storytelling through animals and their environment. I am continuously trying to expand, examine and capture my relationship to wildlife and their habitats; to create an open door for viewers to engage with their world.” –Katie Frey. 

Katie Frey is a Spokane artist who works in acrylic and watercolor and primarily paints landscapes and animals. She has been teaching and creating art in Spokane Washington for over 15 years. She paints with bright colors and expressive lines. The subject matter is planned, but everything else is intuitive: purple shadows, tangled plants, a landscape disintegrating into the abstract. Katie wants her art to be warm and invigorating; to look as spontaneous and joyful as it feels when she creates it.
